SAVE YOUR EARS
It is a lot of trouble to don some kind of hearing protection each time we want
to shoot. Sometimes it doesn't seem worth while just to fire a shot or two.
The truth is that permanent damage is done to your hearing every single time
a sound is
perceived to be painfully loud.
Like every other function of the body, we start out with a reserve, which if not
wasted in youth, is enough to assure reasonably useful hearing into advanced age.
The fact is that any sound which approaches a painful level does some
permanent damage to the tiny resonant rods which produce the nerve impulses.
As more of these are damaged, hearing becomes less acute. Although it may
seem that there is a recovery, there is NEVER a full recovery. Each incident
chips away at the reserve, until the eventual result is a noticeable hearing loss.
Then you can look forward to becoming increasingly deaf each year of your life,
whether you are thirty or sixty when it is first noticed.
SAVE YOUR EARS, WEAR PROTECTION.
